Last week the carving part was just about finished (forgot to take photos), but a little more polishing to be done this week before the crow head finally gets mounted on this nice bit of hardwood that's been hanging around the house for as long as I can remember. After a lot of sanding to smooth down irregularities and various stains it's accumulated over the years (after which I knocked it off the bench and had to sand it again!), it was ready for a rub with raw linseed oil. It's just had a second rub and looking a nice rich colour.
I started writing this blog in December 2016, but it covers projects started in spring 2015 onwards, so it was written retrospectively until I caught up with the current term.
